Two possible explanations supporting the concept of pleiotropy or the shared genetic influence of related phenotypes: b An individual with genetic predispositions to obesity is less physically active due to their obesity as discussed by Richmond et al. [33] and others [34, 35]; or (c) an individual with genetic predispositions to be less physically active becomes overweight to obese [32, 37]
